What do you want from your future?

Where do you see yourself in 10, 20 or 30 years' time?

Planning ahead is not something that comes naturally to us. The latest figures show that one in three of us are still not saving for our retirements. We shouldn't be surprised. If people don't know what they want from the future, what incentive is there to plan for it?

That's why I always start from the beginning: I find out what it is that you want from life. And the first stage of that process is a free Discovery Meeting.

A Discovery Meeting will help you decide how your future should look. You will identify your most pressing financial goals and understand why they are important to you. This exercise alone will give you plenty to think about.

The Financial Road Map – a tool for self-discovery

I use a simple tool called the Financial Road Map. It's a neat graphical representation of your life. It starts from where you are now and leads to a point in the future where the things that are important to you eventually fit into place. The Financial Road Map gives you a sense of purpose; it replaces aimless financial wandering with a clear sense of direction.

Let's take a whole-life approach to financial planning

My way of working is not typical of the financial services industry. Most companies channel their clients towards specific products – mortgages, insurance, pensions – without understanding how any of them fit into your overall life plan.

I sit down with you to look at the whole picture. This holistic or whole-life approach takes account of your relationships and family commitments, your work-life balance, your personal interests, and the type of life you want to lead when you retire. Email me now to find out about whole-life financial planning.

Who could benefit from a discovery meeting?

Anyone whose life and finances lack direction:

  • Young people at the beginning of their career
  • Older people approaching retirement
  • Bread-winners at any stage of their career
  • Self-employed and business owners
  • Divorcees, widows, and widowers facing a fresh start
  • Those who know where they want to go, but not how to get there
  • People with cash (windfalls or inheritances) to invest
